50 Years of Star Trek Jewelry:
Maggie Schpak, longtime Star Trek prop jewelry maker, will be making a rare appearance to discuss behind-the-scenes process and stories of her life creating character adornment for the Star Trek series and movies, beginning in the 1960s.
Arts at the Armory Appearance

In a first-time public speaking engagement, Hollywood prop jeweler Maggie Schpak will transport to Arts At the Armory, Somerville, MA to present her insights, artistry, and behind-the-scenes stories from a career designing and making for Star Trek. After fifty years of creating prop jewelry magic, the Queen of Makers will talk about her methods, never-seen original sketches, prototypes, problem solving experiences and share insider studio photographs. From the design and making of Spock’s Kolinahr necklace to Worf’s and Dax’s ornate wedding ensembles to the classic IDIC pin, this is a unique sneak peak into a world loved by millions of Star Trek fans and movie-goers world-wide.
Special Reception with Maggie Schpak
September 22, 6-8:30pm
Maggie's talk will be followed by a reception at the Artisan's Asylum where guests are invited to meet Maggie, share nibbles and refreshments, and participate in a silent auction and online auction of Star Trek collectibles that span Maggie's career.
The reception will be an opportunity for celebration, cosplay, and the chance to sidle up to the DS9 Quark's Bar. Unforgettable!
