Maggie Schpak

50 Years of Star Trek Jewelry:

Maggie Schpak, longtime Star Trek prop jewelry maker, will be making a rare appearance to discuss behind-the-scenes process and stories of her life creating character adornment for the Star Trek series and movies, beginning in the 1960s.

Arts at the Armory Appearance

September 22, 3-4:30pm

In a first-time public speaking engagement, Hollywood prop jeweler Maggie Schpak will transport to Arts At the Armory, Somerville, MA to present her insights, artistry, and behind-the-scenes stories from a career designing and making for Star Trek. After fifty years of creating prop jewelry magic, the Queen of Makers will talk about her methods, never-seen original sketches, prototypes, problem solving experiences and share insider studio photographs. From the design and making of Spock’s Kolinahr necklace to Worf’s and Dax’s ornate wedding ensembles to the classic IDIC pin, this is a unique sneak peak into a world loved by millions of Star Trek fans and movie-goers world-wide.

Special Cocktail Reception with Maggie Schpak

September 22, 6-8:30pm

After the talk, join us for some "shore leave" at a re-creation of Quark's Bar in Artisan's Asylum, along with Maggie Schpack and leaders of the Asylum. Time to have that conversation about life behind the scenes of Star Trek, and ask those questions about the prop making and design process. Spend some quality time hanging out with Maggie, fellow makers and Trekkies.

During the Cocktail Reception we will be raffling off selected memorabilia, craft and artistic items from Maggie Schpak's years with Star Trek.

Private Auction

There will be an online auction featuring unique items from Schpak's studio collection. Proceeds support the Artisan's Asylum, and additional details will be posted here.
